Schindler's List + talk with the author

The story of Schindler's List continues. Its author 30 years since the film's premiere in Brno.

Schrott Křenová 291/10, Brno

The first and unique opportunity for the Czech audience to meet the author of the book based on the Oscar-winning film Schindler's List in person. A discussion with the Australian writer Thomas Keneally (1935) followed by a screening of Schindler's List will take place on 10 March. The interview with the author will be conducted by Daniel Low-Beer, whose foundation is now building the Schindler's Ark Memorial and Löw-Beer Textile Factory in the former "Schindler's" factory in Brno. The Löw-Beers have an important connection with Thomas Keneally's book. The Löw-Beer family owned the factory where Oskar Schindler saved 1200 lives. They ran it until 1938, when they had to flee abroad because of the rise of Nazism. In 1944, Schindler began bringing Jews from the Krakow ghetto here, saving them from certain death in the concentration camps. The story became world famous thanks to Keneally's book Schindler's Ark and the 1993 film adaptation, Schindler's List.

The programme will be held in English and will be simultaneously interpreted into Czech.
