Schindler’s List at 30 Making a Museum of Survivors

  • Brněnec, Pardubický kraj, 569 04 Czechia (map)

Watch the film Schindler’s List in the place where the events occurred to mark its 30 years anniversary.

Is the story still relevant?  Can an individual stand up to discrimination and to killing systems?  How do survivors shape our world?  You will hear the testimonies of survivors and contribute to the co-design of Making a Museum of Survivors from the ruins.

The event will launch a two-year process to « Make a Museum » with schools from five countries.  There are 50,000 hours of testimonies collected by the Shoah Foundation.  You will follow an iWalk of the stories that occurred here, the testimonies and film clips, and experience the poems, music and art of survivors who shaped our world.  Their descendants will be present.  The grandson of the previous Jewish owners of the factories will guide you around the site sharing the stories.

There will be a pre and post half day in Brno with a Reconciliation March of Czechs, Germans, Austrians and Jews, learning activities on textiles and genetics, and a workshop in a Brno school.

The teachers and students from five countries will contribute to « Making a Museum » co-design activities in Schindler’s Ark.  They will become student Arks diplomats and can participate in learning activities over the next two years with the other schools.  They will be invited back to the launch of the museum in 2025 to see their ideas and names installed permanently.
